Milano are proud to support the fight against in breast cancer in the UK, with 10% of sale proceeds from any of our special pink coloured products and accessories going directly to breast cancer charities in the UK to help them fund research, treatment, care and support for those individuals and families who have been affected by this devastating disease.

Breast cancer is now the most common cancer in the UK and whilst 2 out of 3 women diagnosed will survive the disease beyond 20 years, around 12,000 women and 70 men per year will die from it effects. The earlier the detection of the disease, the more effective treatment against breast cancer will be.

In the UK in 2007 almost 45,700 women were diagnosed with breast cancer - around 125 women a day. Female breast cancer incidence rates have increased by around 50% over the last twenty-five years. In the UK in 2007/2008 the NHS breast screening programmes detected more than 16,000 cases of breast cancer and this screening saves an estimated 1,400 lives each year. Around 9 out of 10 women diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer survive their disease beyond five years. This drops to around 1 out of 10 diagnosed with stage IV.

The good news is that more women are surviving breast cancer than ever before and survival rates have been improving for thirty years, thanks to the tireless work being carried out by the hundreds of medical professionals, volunteers and charities involved in battling the disease.

Milano pledge their support to breast cancer charities throughout 2010, and you can help by looking for and purchasing any product displaying a pink ribbon on our product pages.
